State in the Real presents a Concert Benefiting THON is less than a week away!
We got a chance to sit down with Port Vue, one of five acts set to play concert, about what THON means to them; here’s what they had to say.
What is your favorite part of THON?
Realizing how strong these kids and families are. They are so remarkable, resilient, and grateful. I love interacting with the families and kids. Canning weekends too. It’s an awesome feeling to see all the different communities contributing to THON and to spread the meaning of THON to everyone.
Describe what THON means to you in one sentence.
“You have never really lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” I completely agree with this quote and what THON means to me is just absolutely pure love and compassion.
What is it like to be raising money For The Kids?
Probably the most heartwarming and amazing feeling ever. Knowing that raising money for THON is helping these kids in such a miraculous fashion, is the greatest feeling.
If you were selected to be a dancer at THON, what three pieces of clothing you would wear to make you stand out?
Cape. Absolutely would wear a cape.
Tu-tu. Once again. Absolutely would wear a tu-tu
Whatever my moraler would bring me. As a moraler, it means a lot when our dancers like or wear what we brought them!
If you could play one cover on the THON stage what would it be and why?
Snow Patrol – Open Your Eyes. It was used in the “2012 – Don’t Waste a Minute” Video. I cry every time. I’ve literally had dreams of Port Vue performing this on stage with dancers and kids all around.
Share your favorite THON memory (if you have one)
Final 8 or so hours with my 2013 Morale Committee in the stands. I just always think of that when I think of THON. One of our committee members walked across stage for Family Hour as well and it was incredibly emotional and meaningful. Family hour 2012, a dancer spoke about his little sister who passed away from cancer. That was the most inspiring moment I’ve seen at THON.
