Atlas Sound

…. A musical creation by none other than Bradford Cox, the lead singer and guitarist of the Georgia-based sensation, Deerhunter. Cox first began creating music by layering guitar, vocals and drum beats using a cassette player with two tape decks. His stage name, Atlas Sound, is actually derived from the brand of tape player he used during his adolescence. The first release of this solo project was “Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel” in 2008. Since then, Atlas Sound has continued to release other albums, including “Logos” in 2009, “Bedroom Database” in 2010, and most recently “Parallax” just last year. Known for his method of creating music, referred to as a “stream of consciousness”, Atlas Sound offers his fans a combination of beautiful, unique sounds and a high-energy, enjoyable live performance…

Tutlie

… Jessie Radlow and Christina Klaproth have been best friends and musical counterparts since their freshman year of college, but officially formed Tutlie years later in early 2011. Radlow’s style of lucid composition and haunting lyrics are intertwined with her hazy vocals contrasting Klaproth’s commanding and captivating harmonies. The end product is both infectious and intricate, enhanced by the inclusion of drummer Tony Rossi (Streaks of Light), Joe Lazas (Golden Ages, Strands of Oaks), and Asher Brooks (Production Manager/Multi-instrumentalist as well as Co-owner of East Room Recording)…

Costello and the Cool Minors

… Former Penn State student now based out of Pittsburgh whose “Costello and the Cool Minors” album calls to mind the Fleet Foxes. It has been described as “an enthralling folk record that succeeds without mythical tales of cabin confinement.” The album displays a layered complexity that translates well as a stripped down, three-piece live performance with merely drums and bass behind his rollicking vocals and electric guitar. His folky voice also has drawn comparisons to Neil Young and Graham Nash. Formerly of Pittsburgh band The Slant, he will start a national tour this summer, with plans to record features for NPR and the live download music site Daytrotter….
