For those of you that remember, I interviewed THON Dancer Austin Skobel at THON two weeks ago. You guys can read the original interview here. I talked to Austin again recently to reflect on his experience at THON.
How was THON?
Austin: THON was amazing. Easily one of the best experiences of my life. It was so incredible it is hard to put into words.
What was it like being a dancer?
Austin: Being a dancer was a different experience. I wasn’t on the floor as much as I thought I would be because there was so much to do and see.
If given the chance, would you dance again?
Austin: I would dance again in a heartbeat. If given the opportunity I would take it.
What were your favorite songs that you heard at THON?
Austin: I loved “Thrift Shop,” “Zombie Nation,” and “Apache.”
What songs do you wish were played at THON?
Austin: I wish I heard Zedd’s “Clarity.”
What band was your favorite performer at THON?
Austin: I really enjoyed Total Whiteout. They really rocked the BJC and got everybody dancing.
What was your favorite part of the weekend?
Austin: My favorite part of THON weekend was hanging out with the Holland family. It was awesome to see them and meet their 2 month old for the first time.
How long did you sleep for after THON?
Austin: I slept for about 14 hours but really got back to my normal schedule on Monday.
What does THON mean to you?
Austin: THON means so much to me. I can’t really explain it but when I see how much 15,000 college students care about helping others it really is amazing. THON isn’t about one weekend either it is about the work we put in during the year. I don’t really think I can put what THON means to me in words but the word that does keep going through my mind is amazing.
