GENERATIONALS: www.generationals.com
Formed in 2008 by ex-Eames Era guitarists/songwriters Ted Joyner and
Grant Widmer, New Orleans-based indie pop outfit Generationals craft
hook-filled indie pop that draws liberally from rock and pop’s ’50s,
’60s, and ’70s heydays, while maintaining enough modern sensibilities
to remain relevant in the MP3 age. Like their Park the Van
contemporaries Dr. Dog, Spinto Band, and Capitol Years, Generationals’
lo-fi recording techniques are buffered by their advanced musical
chops, resulting in a clever new take on sugar pop psychedelia. The
band’s Park the Van debut, Con Law, arrived on July 21, 2009. The band
returned in 2011 with the equally sugary-sweet sophomore effort
Actor-Caster.

DEVIN: www.devinmusic.com
Devin’s cool, rowdy guitar rock makes a connection between ’70s
Detroit rock & roll and ’50s Memphis rockabilly. In 2009 the native
Brooklynite (full name Devin Therriault), who cites Johnny Thunders
and Iggy Pop as his strongest influences, wrote his first songs while
working his day job at a shipping warehouse, self-recording a demo
soon after. The demo reached Frenchkiss label founder Syd Butler, who
recruited Devin to the roster in fall 2011 and released Devin’s debut
EP,You’re Mine, that November. Devin spent the next few months writing
songs for a full album and in February 2012 toured with tough roots
rockers Heartless Bastards. His debut LP, Romancing, arrived that
April. – All Music Guide
