Pair of Alternative Bands to Co-Headline LateNight Concert
Alternative rock bands Mayday Parade and The Maine will co-headline a concert sponsored by the Student Programming Association on Saturday, October 20 in Alumni Hall. The concert is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. This is a ticketless event and is free with a valid PSU student photo id. Students will be allowed in on a first come, first serve basis. Student status will be verified prior to entry.
Mayday Parade released their first EP, “Tales Told By Dead Friends” in 2006 without a label. Since then, the band has released two more EPs and three full length albums. Some of their popular songs include “Jamie All Over,” “Miserable at Best” and “Terrible Things,” which was released in March of 2011. Mayday Parade plays to sold out shows across the country all throughout the year and can usually be found at big events such as Warped Tour, Bazooka Rocks Music Festival and even came to Penn State back in 2010.
The Maine is largely known for their hit single “Into Your Arms” in 2008 off of the album “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop.” The band has had three headlining tours in the past two years and has co-headlined with big names such as We The Kings and Taking Back Sunday. In 2010, the band won the award for “AP Magazine’s” Best Live Band and Album of the Year for their second studio album, “Black & White.” This will be the band’s first time performing at Penn State. ###
