Party Mashup Duo and Rapper to Perform in Alumni Hall
Get ready to dance- The White Panda and Asher Roth will perform at Penn State at 10 p.m. on Friday, December 7 in Alumni Hall. Tickets are not needed for this concert, and it is a free event for students with a valid Penn State student photo ID. Students will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis. The event is sponsored by SPA LateNight.
The White Panda consists of Chicago-based Procrast (Tom Evans) and DJ Griffi (Dan Griffith), two childhood friends who joined forces when they realized their mutual love of mashup. The White Panda launched in 2009 and the buzz from their first three albums, “Versus,” “Rematch” and “Pandamonium” catapulted them into Soundcloud’s top five most-played artists in 2011. They have toured with Mac Miller, Mike Posner, Wale and Ghostland Observatory. Their fourth album “Bambooyah!” debuted in March.
Asher Roth is an American suburban rapper who is best known for his hit 2009 debut single “I Love College.” He began rapping as a high school student and began to develop a fan base through Myspace and Facebook while attending West Chester University. Rap industry businessmen took notice of Roth and signed him to Universal Music Group. Since then, he has released “The Greenhouse Effect Mixtape” and his solo album debut “Asleep in the Bread Aisle.” Most recently, he released another mixtape, “Pabst & Jazz,” in 2011.
