Penn State's 2012 Movin' On Line-Up Announced: The Avett Brothers, Ludacris, The David Mayfield Parade, Michael Franti and Spearhead, and Young the Giant

This year’s headliners for Penn State’s Movin’ On Music Festival for 2012 have just been announced. Drum-Roll please…..

Line up and set times will be as followed:

3:00 Keegan Tawa
3:30 The Wondershop Showdown
4:00 David Mayfield Parade
5:00 Young The Giant
6:30 Michael Franti
8:00 Ludacris
9:30 The Avett Brothers

The complete lineup will be determined concluding the Battle of the Bands competition for student acts, scheduled for Saturday, March 31^st at 9:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall in the HUB.

‘The 2012 Movin’ On CORE Committee is pleased to announce the much anticipated headliners for this year’s spring music festival. After months of student survey campaigns, budget meetings and contract negotiations, the Executive Committee has verified the top four acts scheduled to perform at the April 27^th concert.

The folk rock band and 2007 AMA group of the year, The Avett Brothers, will headline the free festival along with performances by rap sensation and three-time Grammy Award winner Ludacris, and The David Mayfield Parade. Young the Giant will also be performing, presented by the Student Program Association. There is still one more paid act to be determined, making this year’s lineup complete with five paid acts.

Michael Franti and Spearhead is a hip-hop group that mixes a variety of genres including funk, reggae, jazz, folk, and rock with lyrics promoting peace and social justice.

The bands were selected based on results from the Google surveys provided by the CORE Committee, budget range, and band availability. The complete lineup will be determined concluding the Battle of the Bands competition for student acts, scheduled for Saturday, March 31^st at 9:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall in the HUB.

This year’s Movin’ On music festival will be held on Friday, April 27^th at 3:30 p.m. at IM Field West, outside Beaver Stadium. Admission is free for both Penn State students and the general public. Food vendors, merchandise tables and special activities will be present during the event. More information regarding acts and activities will be released as the festival approaches. The final itinerary for Movin’ On 2012 will be available online at www.movinon.org.
