The Weeknd just released a music video for “The Zone” which features lots of his iconic balloons, and of course his fellow Canadian and long time supporter, Drake. Directed by Abel Tesfaye himself, the video does a great job matching the tone of the song with distorted visuals of having fun. It emphasizes the highs of being caught up in the party scene, mixed with the lows of dealing with all the mistakes of the night before. The Weeknd’s signature has always been the contrast between romanticizing drug use and partying with no responsibilities vs. the reality of waking up in a shallow meaningless life everyday, and this video does a good job conveying it.
